On Nesting and Stuff

Our garbage man comes every Friday morning. Lately by Saturday afternoon our trash is full again. I am in a purging mood and it feels great. Baby boy needs a clean and tidy house right?

I am also slowly getting the nursery put together and gathering (to my inexperienced knowledge) all the necessary baby goods a new mother needs. Truthfully, when I look at what I have I don't think 3 onesies, wipes, and a crib will cut it. So I have a ways to go...but it's all so much fun and exciting for us.

Jeff surprised me by ordering the stroller I wanted. It came last Thursday and my excitement levels at a silly stroller surprised even me. We put it together and ran around the house with it. Jeff put me through different scenarios to test my stroller knowledge and baby safety. My favorite was "You're out for a walk with baby boy and you get to a giant cliff. You want to stop and take a picture, but need to make sure the stroller doesn't roll off the edge. What do you do?" I passed with flying colors. No stroller rolling off a cliff around here. I know how to use the parking brake.

I also feel like we are getting more mentally prepared to become parents, which is a hard thing to do when you've never done it before. I once heard a professor say that the first baby for a couple is not a miracle, but rather it is a crisis to the marriage. Well not in our house sir. I'm sure having a baby will throw us for a loop many times over, but so far I feel our marriage getting better and stronger. Just picturing Jeff as a new daddy makes me love him more.

We have enacted "live it up before the baby comes" mode and so far we are loving it. Last Saturday we went to a movie, then dinner, then another movie. It was one of the most fun dates ever. This coming Saturday marks our 5-year anniversary, which is nuts! I always feel in my mind that we've been married for 2 years and I'm still 23...apparently not!
