the other day i saw a beautiful purple orchid.
it reminded me of a funny memory from when jeff and i were first married.
i had caught the baby bug.
(probably because the couples in our ward were reproducing like rabbits, and every sunday i would stare at the chubby, bouncing babies)
one day as we strolled the grocery store i expressed my baby hunger to jeff.
he of course tried his best to avoid the topic.
luckily for him, i was quickly distracted by a display of stunning purple orchids.
quick on his feet, jeff suggested i buy one and make it my baby.
and thus kelly was born.
(i have no idea where that name came from. i don't even like the name kelly--no offense kellies)
sadly her time with us was short lived. apparently three ice cubes per week as her label said was not enough to sustain her.
I love my orchids!! I've never heard of giving it ice cubes though. I've had two of them (nameless) for about 3 years now, when we moved into our house I put them in the kitchen window and they got a little too much sun, I thought I killed them. I learned about an orchid fertilizer you can get at Home Depot. It brought them back to life and they both have three new stems!! Maybe you should give it another try!!
ReplyDeleteWow thanks Jaime! Yeah we both thought the three ice cubes per week sounded a little dumb...that's what I get for buying my orchid at WalMart. By the way...I don't have access to your blog. You should add me!
ReplyDeleteI think you should try a tree of some sort--you know, the small kind. I think Hobbes would really like it too!
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean you are baby hungry again?? hahaha Funny story.
ReplyDeleteI need your email address!! Leave a comment on here with it and I'll check again!
